Ketogenic diet and Cancer Connection?

The Warburg Effect!

With this topic, I have to mention about Warburg effect.

Once upon a time, there was a German medical doctor, physiologist, named Otto Heinrich Warburg who won a Nobel prize in 1931 for discovering the “Warburg Effect.” Its premise is that cancer cells create altered metabolism in them that increases glucose uptake and fermentation of glucose to lactate even with normal mitochondrial function.

Dr. Warburg and his team concluded that cancer cell death occurs with deprivation of glucose and oxygen. That will subsequently lead to reduced energy for cancer cells.

Since then, so much research and studies have been published. I am listing several links below for some current studies that are worth being looked at. Although the Ketogenic diet was first introduced for pediatric epilepsy in the 1920s, it offers many promising factors for certain cancers such as brain, breast, prostate, liver, and stomach from a physiological standpoint. And yet, there are also risks with some dietary choices.

Although no major institutions are recommending the ketogenic type of diet as an established part of cancer treatment. But more promising studies and evidence are coming out and become available for the public.
