How Can a Blood Test Help My condition and Health?
Did you know chiropractors can order blood tests? Did you also know that there are chiropractors/alternative healthcare practitioners who are trained and specialized in functional medicine? One might ask why a blood test is necessary and how functional medicine may help improve one’s health and wellness.
- The human body is a walking library of information about your overall health, especially your blood! A blood test may reveal the underlying causes of your current symptoms.
- A blood test may reveal the pattern of your underlying causes so one can functionally approach to improve health.
- A blood test may help you detect and foresee declining function.
What is Functional Medicine and how is it Different from Conventional Medicine?
They are different in their approach. For blood chemistry analysis, conventional doctors use the ‘Standard’ or ‘Lab’ range which is basically the ‘Sick’ range where your health is already in a disease state, where doctors take drastic measures such as prescribing medications or surgeries. On the contrary, functional medicine practitioners use the ‘Optimal’ or ‘Functional’ range which is a narrower range where it has not yet reached the sick range but can cause symptoms and related functional issues. These issues eventually will reach to be in the ‘Sick’ range unless they are properly addressed. Functional medicine practitioners are trained to recognize these patterns so they can help to improve them before they reach the sick state using natural and functional methods such as herbal/nutraceutical remedies, diet modifications, and exercises rather than chemical/pharmaceutical base medications. In short, the focus of care is on the state of function for wellness instead of the state of sickness for diseases. However, sometimes, they work conjunctively with conventional doctors as well for the best outcomes if necessary.
In short, while conventional/pathological approaches view health as mechanical, specialized, focused on identifying disease or pathology, reducing symptoms, holistic/functional approaches view it as dynamic, complex, integrated one another, and focused on identifying underlying causes of dysfunction.
I am properly trained in functional medicine to help you other than biomechanical and structural issues. As mentioned above, the manifestation of your symptoms may arise from unknown/unsuspected functional issues. More often than not, I see the possible underlying functional issues hiding behind all the unsuspected common symptoms of pain ad aches.
The first step is to visit the following link to fill out the “Nutrition Assessment Questionnaire” to determine what level of examination and test panel you need! By filling it out, sometimes helps you identify what kinds of symptoms you consistently have. You might be able to discuss them with me briefly so I can guide you into the right path of the healing journey for your health and wellness!! I will actually upload and discuss the actual cases from this blog!
